Primary Election Day Is Here
Today is primary election day in Florida, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the state.
The only statewide race on the ballot is for the Senate seat held by Republican Rick Scott, who is expected to win easily over two candidates with little name recognition or money.
The leading candidate in the Democratic primary for the Senate is former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, who became the first South American-born woman elected to Congress in 2018.
Incumbents are running for 27 of the state’s 28 U.S. House seats. Local races, including school board seats, are also on the ballot.
