Article Icon 1Flying Cars Coming to Orlando?

“Jetsons”-like flying cars could be a reality in Orlando by 2028 as the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority seeks partners to develop and operate a flying car landing pad called a vertiport.

“We envision the airport to be a multimodal hub of the future,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, a member of the Aviation Authority. The vision includes airborne taxis and expanded train service.

Inviting partners will help the airport gather information such as the cost to build a vertiport. Already, local engineers are addressing challenges such as airspace regulations, safety measures, and infrastructure integration.

Article Icon 1Spring Training Games Begin

Spring training games for the 2025 Major League Baseball season began Saturday and continue through March 25, with 15 teams based in Florida.

Spring training goes back more than 130 years in Florida and the state’s Grapefruit League games are now a major tourism draw.

More than 50% of ticket buyers are from out of state, and the games generate $683 million for the economy, according to Visit Central Florida.

New for spring training this year, MLB is testing the use of robot umpires to determine a ball or a strike if a player challenges a call. If successful, the system could be used in the regular season starting in 2026.

Article Icon 1St. Augustine Among ‘Most Welcoming’

The historic city of St. Augustine is the only U.S. city on Booking.com’s list of the “10 Most Welcoming Places on Earth for 2025.” See the full list here.

Chosen based on customer reviews of hospitality and service, St. Augustine is said to boast the perfect combination of history, culture, and seaside relaxation.

Booking.com recommends exploring the area’s pedestrian-only St. George Street as well as Flagler College, described as a “stunning example of the over-the-top, imposing nature of typical Gilded Age architecture.”
