Article Icon 1‘Casanova Killer’ Executed

Glen Rogers, the “Casanova Killer,” was executed by lethal injection at 6:16 p.m. on Thursday at Florida State Prison for the 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs in Hillsborough County. Convicted in 1997, he has been linked to several other murders.

He received a second death sentence in California in 1999 for the September 1995 murder of Sandra Gallagher, which had occurred weeks before Cribbs’ murder.

Rogers, 62, claimed responsibility for up to 70 murders, though investigators consider many of those claims to be exaggerated or false, including the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a motion filed by Rogers’ attorneys to stop his execution.

Article Icon 1Billionaire Lawyer Weighs Run for Governor

High-profile Florida lawyer John Morgan, known for his billboards and “For the People” ad slogan—and for getting medical marijuana and a $15 minimum wage passed in Florida—says he is considering a run for governor.

If he runs, Morgan says it would be as the candidate for a brand-new third party. To jumpstart that effort, he’ll hold a contest after Memorial Day weekend with a cash prize for anyone who can come up with the perfect name.

Morgan told members of the Capital Tiger Bay Club on Wednesday that there are moments when he thinks he could do it, but he’d rather wait until closer to the election to officially begin a run if he does so.

Article Icon 1Proposed Bear Hunting Season Explained

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission released information on its proposed black bear hunting season in December. You can see details here.

After a five-year study, the commission said the primary objectives of regulated hunting are to balance species population numbers with suitable habitat while maintaining a healthy population.

The commission proposed a three-week bear hunt to address the growing bear population. The hunt would allow the harvest of 187 bears across 31 counties, with hunting permits to be awarded through a random drawing.

The proposal has drawn criticism from some members of the public who oppose bear hunting and advocate for alternative management strategies. Regulated black bear hunting occurred in Florida in the 1930s and continued until 1994.

New Research: Common Brushing Habit Could Be Damaging Your Teeth

A recent study from Kyoto University has revealed a surprising threat to your oral health: a toxic biofilm known as “Dental Rust.”

This bacteria hides deep in the gum line and enamel cracks—and routine brushing may actually push it in further, accelerating tooth decay and gum damage.

Left untreated, it may lead to serious infections.
