At least 328,000 customers across the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama remained without power early on Sunday as Isaias’ remnants pushed north, bringing heavy rain and flash flood risks to the Appalachians and mid-Atlantic.

Holmes County was among the hardest hit, with more than 95% of customers losing power.

Emergency declarations were approved for Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, and the Energy Department authorized crude oil exchanges from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Isaias made landfall near Destin as a Category 2 hurricane on Friday, the first of the Atlantic season. At least four people died, including an Escambia County woman who was killed when a tree hit her home.

Dozens of seniors exercised at Orlando’s Wayne Densch YMCA last week and went home with free emergency preparedness kits stocked with a power pack, mini fan, and shelf-stable meals.

The third annual Healthy Seniors Day drew hundreds to 15 YMCA centers across six counties. The alliance also handed out scent-preservation kits to aid searches for missing people with dementia or autism.

Barbara Danzy, 75, a retired UPS worker, couldn’t keep up when she first joined the Y. “But I kept going, and I got stronger and stronger,” she said.

Article Icon 1Rays, Guardians Open ALCS at the Trop

The top-seeded Tampa Bay Rays host the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series opener tonight at 8 p.m. at Tropicana Field.

The Rays swept the Yankees in the division series, while Cleveland outlasted the White Sox in five. Tampa Bay won five of six meetings this season, two by 1-0 scores.

Manager Kevin Cash confirmed Drew Rasmussen will start after the right-hander carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning against New York. Cleveland had not named its starter as of Sunday.

It’s the Rays’ third ALCS appearance, and Rays Hall of Famer Carl Crawford will throw out the first pitch.

Tampa Bay has never won a World Series, and Cleveland hasn’t won one since 1948.
