Dust, Smoke, and a Weak Tropical Disturbance
A “wall of dust” headed toward Florida could bring “dirty rain” until the weekend, as smoke from Canadian wildfires has traveled as far south as North Florida.
The same conditions bringing the Saharan dust into the state will move the Canadian smoke out, preventing hurricanes from developing and providing vivid sunrises and sunsets as early as tomorrow.
The primary impacts of the extremely dry air are reduced thunderstorm activity, hazy skies, and reduced visibility. Dust can also reduce air quality, but that’s not expected this week.
Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center’s tropical outlook shows the potential for a weak disturbance to form off the northeast Florida coastline. With no threat to the state, it has a 10% chance of development over the next seven days.
Lockheed Martin Strike Resolved
Union workers for Lockheed Martin in Orlando and Denver, Colorado, have ended a strike after ratifying a new contract with the company. The contract includes a starting wage increase, wage increases for seniority, and other adjustments.
Roughly 900 workers represented by the United Auto Workers union were on strike for nearly a month before an agreement was reached with the weapons manufacturer.
The new five-year contract, approved by union members, locks in pay raises of nearly 20%.
The contract raises the starting wage from $15 to $20 per hour and increases the hourly wage per year of service by $1, up from 60 cents per year.
State Board Rejects UF Presidential Pick
On Tuesday, the Florida Board of Governors voted 10-6 to reject Santa Ono as the next president of the University of Florida, despite the Board of Trustees unanimously approving Ono as the university’s 14th president.
Ono most recently served as president at the University of Michigan. Despite officials touting Florida’s ability to lure a sitting president away from a top-ranked university, several conservatives raised questions about Ono before the vote.
Republicans like Rep. Byron Donalds, Rep. Greg Steube, and Donald Trump Jr. urged state leaders to reject Ono’s nomination, with the president’s son labeling him a “woke psycho.”
U.S. Sen. Rick Scott said he had “serious concerns” about Ono becoming president. He urged the Board of Governors to question the encampment that happened under Ono’s watch and his response to reports of antisemitism on the Michigan campus.

Andrew McKinley, a local chef from Indiana, had been suffering from tinnitus for over 13 years. The constant ear ringing disrupted his sleep, focus, and daily life—until something unexpected happened.
One evening, Andrew prepared a new dish using a unique blend of ingredients. The moment he took a bite, he noticed the ringing in his ears began to fade. Within minutes, the buzzing got quieter… and then completely vanished.
Shocked and curious, Andrew consulted medical experts. Tests revealed that his dish contained a rare spice known for its powerful neurological benefits. Doctors were stunned—this single spice appeared to calm the nerves responsible for Tinnitus.
Now, researchers say just one tablespoon of this spice may be enough to silence ear ringing for good, without pills, surgery, or expensive treatments.
Over 45,000 people have already tried it with incredible success.
