Article Icon 1FEMA and Hurricane Preparedness

Florida officially enters hurricane season on June 1, next Monday, with state officials projecting readiness even as local leaders warn that a potential federal retreat from emergency management could leave communities exposed.

State emergency management director Kevin Guthrie said that Florida is prepared for whatever the season brings. He expressed hope that FEMA funding delays, which slowed recovery in past disasters, would be resolved under the new Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

Some community leaders have said that FEMA’s scaled-back approach may be leaving them to prepare on their own, without the federal coordination they’ve relied on. For some communities, that means piecing together disaster plans, stockpiling supplies, and developing training programs with fewer resources.

Lionel Messi limped off the field Sunday, clutching his left thigh, casting a shadow over Argentina’s World Cup hopes with just 16 days until the tournament begins.

The Inter Miami star exited in the 73rd minute of a wild 6-4 home win over Philadelphia—the club’s final MLS match before the World Cup break. Inter Miami interim head coach Guillermo Hoyos offered a cautious update after the game, describing the substitution as precautionary and due to physical fatigue rather than a confirmed injury.

The World Cup kicks off June 11 in Mexico City, with Miami hosting matches as one of the tournament’s U.S. venues. Argentina’s title hopes are deeply intertwined with Messi’s fitness heading into the tournament.

Buffett’s ‘Phone’ Rule Could Make This Company Soar

Warren Buffett famously said that “If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”

But what if your phone could do it for you? 📲

That’s exactly what Mode Mobile has created: technology that turns idle phone time into passive income. With 490M+ users in their ecosystem and $1B+ in earnings and savings, their EarnPhone is being called the Uber of smartphones.

With 32,481% revenue growth, they were named the fastest-growing software company in 2023 by Deloitte, and with 7 billion smartphones worldwide their market could be significantly larger than Uber’s.

They’ve just secured their Nasdaq stock ticker $MODE, and you have until Friday to invest in their pre-IPO offering at $0.50/share.

The next Uber? One Shark Tank Investor thinks so

Imagine turning down Uber at a valuation of $10 million, only to watch it go public at over $80 billion. That’s exactly what happened to Mark Cuban.

But fellow Shark Tank investor Kevin Harrington may have learned from Cuban’s mistake, investing early in what investors are calling the Uber of Smartphones.

That company is Mode Mobile, and like Uber did with cars, they’re turning smartphones into income-generating assets. They’ve generated $115M in revenue and helped users earn and save +$1B. And investors have one final opportunity to invest in their pre-IPO offering before their share price changes on Friday.
