Manufacturing Expansion in Wakulla County
Point Blank Enterprises, the largest body armor manufacturer for law enforcement and the military in the U.S., is expanding to a new facility in Wakulla’s Opportunity Park.
The facility will include 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 18,000 square feet of office space. Based in Pompano Beach, Point Blank employs about 4,000 people worldwide.
On Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis joined business leaders at the Wakulla Environmental Institute in Crawfordville to announce the expansion that will create about 300 new jobs in North Florida. The governor touted job growth throughout the state.
“We lead the nation in new business formation,” DeSantis said. “Every year for the past five or six years, more businesses have been formed in Florida than any state.“
Miami’s Maritime Social Club
A new zero-emission maritime hospitality experience is taking shape in Miami. ARKHAUS is two solar-powered yachts connected by a shared deck that will offer a full social club experience later this year.
Pre-launch activities started in December with upscale dining and private event offerings. Once the club officially launches, private events will be limited to members, with non-members able to attend at reduced capacity.
Founding memberships are currently available at an annual rate of $7,500 before increasing to $10,000 post-launch.
Anchored in sustainability, ARKHAUS features a solar roof that provides sufficient energy to propel the boat and operate all onboard systems. The boat’s resins, flooring, and kitchen materials are all carbon-neutral.
Florida Enters a Buyer’s Market
A new Redfin study reveals a shift from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market in Florida. Four of the top five cities with the biggest decrease in new listings were in Florida metros, including Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.
While nearly 500,000 more sellers than buyers in the country are causing home prices to fall, new listings declined year over year in 11 of the 50 most populous U.S. metros. The recent decline suggests that would-be sellers are backing off.
All six of Florida’s biggest metros made the top 10, with Miami being the hottest buyer’s market and Newark, New Jersey, being the hottest seller’s market.
Real estate professionals say the shift may not signal a crash, but a correction appears to be underway.
