Article Icon 1Online Sports Betting Lawsuit

More than a year after the Seminole Tribe started offering online sports betting, a new lawsuit seeks to stop the practice in Florida, alleging that voter approval is needed.

Protect the Constitution filed the lawsuit in Leon County, saying the Seminole Compact, which Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Seminole Tribe agreed to in 2021, violates a 2018 constitutional amendment that requires voter approval of “casino gambling.”

The deal, which the Legislature ratified, allows the tribe to accept mobile sports bets placed anywhere in the state. The wagers are run through servers on tribal land.

The lawsuit seeks an injunction against the Seminole Tribe’s sports betting app and aims to get the issue on next year’s ballot.

Article Icon 1St. Pete Weighs Future of Al Lang Stadium

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch is considering demolishing Al Lang Stadium, where soccer’s Tampa Bay Rowdies play, and replacing it with an outdoor amphitheater sometime after 2028.

Plans would include the amphitheater, a new building for the Florida Orchestra, and a 400-car parking garage. The current Center for the Arts District includes Al Lang Stadium, the Mahaffey Theater, the Dali Museum, and the St. Pete Grand Prix.

City council members were shown renderings last week of a concept for revamping the downtown waterfront, and several members resisted the idea of losing the nearly 80-year-old stadium and the Rowdies.

City staff stressed to council members that the presentation’s purpose was to obtain their feedback and modify the proposal. Once changes are made, a revised proposal will be presented.

Article Icon 1Two Florida Beaches Earn Prestigious Award

Boca Raton’s Spanish River Park and Delray Beach’s Municipal Beach were awarded the Blue Flag designation, making them two of just three beaches in the nation to be recognized with the prize. Malibu, California, is the third.

The Blue Flag Beach Award, presented by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Copenhagen, is given to beaches that comply with “stringent environmental, educational, safety, and access-related criteria annually.”

Two factors in Boca Raton’s designation were Gumbo Limbo’s free educational programs and the city’s dune ecosystem.

This is Delray Beach’s third year receiving the designation, and it will host a Blue Flag raising ceremony on May 1. The beach is also in the running to protect its title as Best Beach in Florida by USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards. You can vote here.

Apple’s Starlink Update Sparks Huge Earning Opportunity

Apple just secretly added Starlink satellite support to iPhones through iOS 18.3.

One of the biggest potential winners? Mode Mobile.

Mode’s EarnPhone has already reached more than 45 million users who have earned over $325 million, and that’s before global satellite coverage. With SpaceX eliminating “dead zones” worldwide, Mode’s earning technology can now reach billions more in unbanked and rural populations worldwide.

Their global expansion is perfectly timed, and you still have a chance to invest in their pre-IPO offering at just $0.26/share.

Mode’s recent 32,481% revenue growth and their newly reserved Nasdaq ticker $MODE puts them one step closer to a potential IPO.

Last chance to invest at $0.26/share. Price changes on May 1.
