Question: Disney’s BoardWalk pays tribute to what iconic destination?
Answer: The Atlantic City Boardwalk in New Jersey
During the early 1990s, Disney wanted to copy some of the most famous destinations, and bring versions of them to Orlando. After the early success of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC), park planners plotted a second DVC property with an attached entertainment complex. They settled on the area at the back of Epcot’s World Showcase. Their ambitious decision was to create their version of Atlantic City’s boardwalk.
Disney built its BoardWalk as a tribute to the original Atlantic City boardwalk, but it has a second style similar to Coney Island. By marrying these two kinds of boardwalks, Disney has its own unique spin on the concept.
