The Flyover: From a Kitchen Table Idea to a National Movement
Two years ago, our founder, Guy Short, sat at his kitchen table, frustrated by the intentional bias dominating the news. That day, he came up with a bold idea:
Common-sense news for common-sense Americans.

Today, The Flyover publishes nine state editions, 61 newsletters weekly, and The Flyover Podcast, streaming seven days a week—and unlike most start-ups, we’re already profitable.

This opportunity won’t last forever. If you’ve been on the fence, now’s the time to join the movement—and don’t get left behind.
Fake Bomb Threat Targets 40 School Districts
The FBI and local police are investigating an anonymous bomb threat that was issued to over 40 Florida school districts across the state on Tuesday evening.
Officials believe the emails are part of a statewide scheme aimed at scamming the schools. Brevard County officials said in a statement that the threats “are not considered credible and appear to be part of a hoax intended to solicit money.”
A Sumter County School District also received the email and acknowledged the threat circulating through a group email thread. Officials do not believe the threat is credible and consider it part of the same hoax.
Schools around the state opted for a regular schedule on Wednesday, having an increased law enforcement presence “out of an abundance of caution.”
Florida Sues Roku for Selling Kids’ Information
Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a lawsuit against streaming giant Roku, accusing the company of violating the state’s tech privacy and consumer protection laws by collecting and selling personal data from children without parental consent.
Uthmeier’s civil enforcement action targets Roku and its Florida subsidiary. Filed in Collier County Circuit Court, the lawsuit alleges that Roku collected information from young users.
The attorney general said he believes Roku has used and sold data “regarding online preferences and behaviors of kids, videos, and images that they might use online, even their location.”
In a video posted to his social media, Uthmeier called the practice a violation of Florida’s Digital Bill of Rights and of parents’ control over their children’s data. Florida seeks to halt Roku’s data collection and impose penalties.
Jacksonville Votes Against Independent Attorney
On Tuesday, the Jacksonville City Council voted 9-8 against a resolution endorsing the Duval County School Board’s effort to have the state lawmakers change the city charter to allow it to hire an independent attorney.
A debate over the plan began in May, following the resignation of the school board’s city-appointed attorney, Ray Poole. The school board wanted to hire its own attorney who would not be under the supervision of the city’s Office of General Counsel.
Those opposed did not want to set a precedent that could lead to independent authorities for other areas of the city, like the Jacksonville Port Authority.
School board members argued theirs should be a special case because, unlike the boards of other agencies, they are elected by voters. Locally elected state lawmakers could choose to take up the request in Tallahassee, despite the city council’s decision.

Move Over Exxon, This Energy Upstart Is Ready for Primetime
Energy giants like Exxon and Chevron have been buying up land in America’s lithium hotspot.
What’s really turning heads about this move is that EnergyX isn’t just competing for lithium-rich land. They’ve pioneered patented technology that can extract 300% more lithium than traditional methods. That combination positions EnergyX as one of the largest vertically integrated lithium producers in America. Additionally, General Motors has invested, along with other global leaders such as Eni and POSCO.
Great timing, too, because the demand for lithium is projected to be 18X current production by 2040.
You can claim a stake in the lithium boom, too. But act fast.
