Port Everglades Drug Haul Tops $226M
The Coast Guard offloaded about 29,600 pounds of cocaine and 3,355 pounds of marijuana at Port Everglades on Wednesday, a haul worth an estimated $226.7 million.
The crew of the Cutter Tampa made six interdictions in the eastern Pacific with help from aviation teams and partner agencies. Officials said the 15 smugglers detained will be repatriated rather than prosecuted under maritime law.
Vice Adm. Jo-Ann Burdian said the 13 metric tons of cocaine were “enough to deliver 10 million potentially fatal doses.” The seizures are part of Operation Pacific Viper, which has intercepted more than 250,000 pounds of cocaine since it began. Most of the drugs will be destroyed, with some kept as evidence.

The hosts will tape four episodes over the two days, and Ripa said she knows the beach “well” because Consuelos took her there to meet his parents. Organizers haven’t said how many seats are available or which celebrity guests will appear.
Tapings start at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. each day, with thousands of fans expected along the shore. Attendees must be at least 18 and can request tickets online.
