Two Florida Amendments Pass
Two of Florida’s six proposed constitutional amendments were approved by Floridians Tuesday—Amendment 2, the hunting and fishing rights amendment, and Amendment 5, the homestead inflation exemption.
As of Wednesday, Amendment 2 was projected to pass, adding hunting and fishing rights to the state constitution “forever.” Florida joins 23 other states with constitutional provisions protecting the right to hunt and fish.
Amendment 5 proposes an annual adjustment for inflation to the value of current or future homestead exemptions for non-school taxes, beginning January 1, 2025.

Hurricane Rafael Impacts Florida Keys
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Rafael intensified into a Category 3 hurricane on Wednesday as it approached the Gulf of Mexico and passed west of the Keys.
Due to strong wind shear, dry air, and cooler water in the Gulf, the storm is expected to remain at Category 3 before weakening on its approach to the U.S. central Gulf coast this weekend.
The Florida Panhandle was spared a direct hit and has been moved out of the cone of uncertainty as Rafael has shifted west. The Keys are forecast to experience tornadoes and 1 to 3 inches of rainfall.

LendingTree analyzed anonymous credit reports from 210,000 users in the 50 largest U.S. cities. Residents of these metropolitan areas hold an average of $37,827 in nonmortgage debt and an average of $12,437 in auto loan debt.
Texas cities took the top three spots, with Austin coming in first. Conversely, San Jose, California, ranks as the least debt-ridden metro area of those studied.
