Special Session for Congressional Redistricting
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that he plans to hold a special session of the legislature focused on redistricting Florida’s congressional maps to ensure the maps accurately reflect the state’s population.
The session is scheduled to take place from April 20 to 24, following the conclusion of the regular legislative session in mid-March. According to the governor, this “will allow the Legislature to first focus on the pressing issues facing Floridians before devoting its full attention to congressional redistricting.”
Republicans currently hold 20 of the state’s 28 congressional districts. DeSantis has previously stated that he believes Florida could have as many as five more seats if the state’s districts were redrawn correctly.
Second Sentencing Trial for Death Row Inmate
A Miami man already convicted for leaving a 5-year-old girl in the Everglades to be eaten by alligators is again facing sentencing for her murder almost three decades later.
A new jury will hear details of the brutal crime as Harrel Braddy, 76, faces another execution trial due to changes in Florida’s death penalty law. The trial began Monday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court with jury selection.
Braddy kidnapped Quatisha Maycock, 5, and her mother, Shandelle Maycock, in 1998. He assaulted Shandelle and left her in the trunk of his car near the Broward-Palm Beach county line. She survived.
Fearing Quatisha could identify him, Braddy left the child alive on the side of the road in Alligator Alley. Quatisha’s body was found in a canal days later by fishermen, having been attacked by alligators.
In 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court found Florida’s death penalty sentencing system unconstitutional. That granted about 100 Florida death row inmates, including Braddy, the opportunity for a new sentencing.
The Frozen Iguanas Debut in Palm Beach
The Palm Beach Cardinals, the minor-league baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, is creating what’s called a “first alternate identity rebrand” and changing its name to the Frozen Iguanas.
The name change will be for a limited time in 2026 at the team’s home field, Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, on all 12 home Saturdays. The team’s new uniforms will be unveiled at Fan Fest on Jan. 10.
A Frozen Iguanas line of merchandise was introduced online and sold out the same day. Available items included jerseys, hats, shirts, and hoodies featuring a scowling, icicle-draped lizard and another passed out on its back under a palm tree.
For the Frozen Iguanas promotion, the minor league team is partnering with IggyTrap, a company that specializes in the humane removal of iguanas. A graduate of Florida Atlantic University founded the company.

Ads are changing. This AI is why.
The first wave of AI got priced fast. The next wave is quieter, far more practical, and starting to hit right now. It’s AI that gets judged on outcomes, not attention, and earns its place by improving performance inside live budgets.
RAD Intel’s proprietary AI tech does just that and is already helping Fortune 1000 brands pick the right creators and content. Built for performance teams that don’t have time for guesswork, it learns from what actually converts inside live campaigns—and edge that translates into up to 3.5x ROI on most campaigns.
These are the kinds of numbers investors typically see after the story has already gained mainstream attention, at significantly different terms. Yet RAD remains private today, with a Nasdaq ticker $RADI already reserved.
Shares are available at $0.85/share while the current allocation is open, before the attention shift fully catches up.
