Hurricane Season Is Here Tomorrow
Hurricane season in the Atlantic officially begins tomorrow.
Forecasters are predicting a below-normal Atlantic hurricane season this year, with 8 to 14 named storms. Three to six of those storms are forecast to become hurricanes, including 1 to 3 major hurricanes.
However, forecasters are already monitoring a developing tropical threat near Florida waters, with the greatest likelihood of tropical development expected from mid- to late next week.
“The chance of development remains very low in the short term due to strong wind shear,” AccuWeather’s lead hurricane expert Alex DaSilva said. “However, as the shear relaxes, conditions could become more favorable for an area of low pressure to develop in the Gulf or the western Caribbean.”

AC Malfunction Hospitalizes Four at Airport
A broken air conditioning system on a grounded Global X airplane destined for Louisiana at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport sent four passengers to the hospital Thursday.
Crews evacuated the aircraft on the tarmac and transported four individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment of heat-related illnesses.
The malfunction caused the flight to be delayed by more than five hours.
All of the plane’s other passengers were transferred to a different plane. Officials are investigating the incident.

The two-game series, held May 29 and May 30, marked the first time Banana Ball has been played at the entertainment resort.
The partnership between Banana Ball and Disney, as well as ESPN, continues to expand, with ESPN and Disney+ announcing a 25-game exclusive streaming package for the 2026 season earlier this year.
