Good Morning! On this day in 1952, Jacksonville native Allen Collins was born—the guitarist who co-wrote Lynyrd Skynyrd classics like Free Bird and Gimme Three Steps.
An Alachua County sheriff’s deputy spent nearly 40 minutes rescuing 11 ducklings earlier this week. Learn more in Et Cetera.
In case you missed it, this week on The Flyover Podcast, Ayla tackled the phone battery problem that has almost nothing to do with your actual battery. It turns out a handful of settings are running in the background all day, quietly draining power without you ever touching them, and shutting them off costs you nothing. From the toggles most people never think to check to the ones switched on the day the phone left the box, Ayla walked through seven quick fixes that can stretch a single charge well past what you are getting now. See tips here!

Florida Sets Double Execution
Florida will execute two death row inmates on the same day for the first time since 1964, after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed death warrants for James Aren Duckett and Dominick Anthony Occhicone.
Duckett, 68, a former Mascotte police officer, was convicted in 1988 of raping and drowning 11-year-old Teresa McAbee. His execution is set for noon July 28 at Florida State Prison, after the Florida Supreme Court lifted a stay tied to DNA testing.
Occhicone, 80, was convicted of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend’s parents at their Holiday home in 1986. His 6 p.m. execution that same day will make him the oldest inmate Florida has put to death in the modern era.
The last time Florida executed two people in a day was May 12, 1964. Both men’s appeals remain pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.

FDA Loosens Orange Juice Rules
The FDA lowered the federal minimum sugar standard for pasteurized orange juice from 10.5% to 10% Brix, a change Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Friday in Lakeland.
The rule, in place since 1963, had forced processors to import higher-Brix juice from countries like Brazil after citrus greening disease and repeated hurricanes lowered the natural sugar content of Florida oranges. The new threshold took effect July 16.
The change also raises the allowed share of mandarin and tangerine juice in the blend from 10% to 15%. Kennedy said the update would “save the industry more than $50 million every year” while maintaining the taste and quality consumers expect.
Florida’s orange production has fallen from about 242 million boxes in 2004 to roughly 12 million in 2025, largely due to greening. Florida Republicans, including Sen. Ashley Moody and Rep. Laurel Lee, pushed for the change.

Waterspout Stuns Sebastian Coast
A towering waterspout dropped completely into the Intracoastal Waterway off Sebastian, in Indian River County, on Friday as the same storm system sparked a lightning-caused apartment fire in Altamonte Springs.
Photographers Bill and Jennifer Larrabee watched the funnel form from the Tiki Bar and Grill in Sebastian. “I’ve lived here for 38 years, and it was definitely the best waterspout I’ve ever seen,” Jennifer Larrabee said.
Farther inland, lightning surged through an apartment complex’s electrical system on Vineridge Road in Altamonte Springs, igniting a wall fire behind a resident’s clothes dryer. Seminole County firefighters extinguished the blaze with no injuries reported.

If you think collagen is only for supporting healthier skin, hair, and nails, think again.
Not only does it play a role in holding the teeth in your mouth, keeping your heart walls intact, and reinforcing your gut lining…
It’s also what allows you to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities without getting tired.
But unfortunately, eating more collagen isn’t the answer.
That’s why Dr. Steven Gundry has created what he calls the “collagen reset technique.”
And to his knowledge, it’s the only technique that’s designed to help your body build its own collagen.
