Bongino Weighs Leaving Trump Team
Former Palm City-based political commentator Dan Bongino is considering leaving his FBI deputy director job over the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files.
Supporters of Bongino reacted to the news by calling for the ouster of former Florida state attorney general and current U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi over the files flop.
The dispute comes after the administration declined to release the suspect list in the Epstein child sex trafficking investigation, angering many Trump supporters.
A Rasmussen Reports poll found support for President Trump softening among a segment of his voter base, with his “strongly approve” rating at 32%, down from 40% in January.
Air Show Wows Huge Crowds
Large crowds turned out for the annual Pensacola Beach Air Show, capped by a performance from the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. You can watch the Blue Angels in action here.
A full dress rehearsal took place Friday followed by Saturday’s official air show that also featured performances by civilian airplanes and aerial stunt teams.
”It’s surreal … It’s something I never could’ve imagined that I would be doing someday,” Blue Angels commander Adam Bryan said in reflecting on the start of his Naval career 20 years ago in Pensacola.
Hyundai Still Top Theft Target
The Hyundai Elantra was the most stolen car in Florida last year, partly because of its popularity and partly because of its past reputation as an easier mark for thieves.
A report by FinanceBuzz said 1,074 Elantras were stolen last year in Florida. The model was also the top target for car thieves in 20 other states.
Nationally, car thefts were down 17% last year but still topped 850,000, with other top targets being the Hyundai Sonata, Chevrolet Silverado, and Honda Accord.
Hyundai models emerged as a favorite of car thieves years ago because of their quality and the absence of some anti-theft protections, which the company corrected starting around 2021.
