More than 100 people were arrested in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid at a construction site in Tallahassee on Thursday.

A witness to the raid said: “They’re asking for citizenship, and they’re running fingerprints to see if they are wanted by immigration … and most of them have been put into the bus behind me.”

Some of those arrested had rap sheets or had been deported before, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The crew was working on a student housing project near Florida State University when the raid occurred.

Article Icon 1 Former Political Leader John Thrasher Dies

John Thrasher, 81, who served in both chambers of the state legislature and was a prominent Republican in Florida, has died. He had previously been diagnosed with cancer.

After his career in the legislature, Thrasher served as the president of Florida State University from 2014–2021. He was also a founding partner of the lobbying firm The Southern Group.

“John had a remarkable ability to bring people together with his warmth, humor, and unmistakable charm,” current FSU President Richard McCullough said.

Article Icon 1Attorney General Faces Contempt Charges

A judge held a two-hour hearing Thursday to determine whether Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier should be held in contempt of court for a memo sent to law enforcement disagreeing with a ruling on immigration law.

Uthmeier’s April 23 memo stated, “It is my view that no lawful, legitimate order currently impedes your agencies from continuing to enforce Florida’s new illegal entry and reentry laws.”

His attorney argued that an earlier letter had made it clear that Uthmeier was upholding the ruling, and the second memo was to “clarify news reports.” U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams said she would issue a ruling “soon.”

Protestors gathered outside the courthouse to support immigrants at Thursday’s hearing. “I’m here because I want to remind our politicians that promoting division, fear, and hatred is not the American way,” protestor Carmen Gonzalez said.

The Knicks-Pacers series has been wildly entertaining so far – and for the first time in history, trading on the outcome of the games is legal in Florida, thanks to Kalshi. This is possible because Kalshi is different from sportsbooks, operating like the stock market instead of using a traditional “house” model.

Rather than using complicated odds, Kalshi markets show a simple percentage. For example, the Knicks have about a 50% chance of winning the series, which means a $100 trade would pay out $200 if it happens.

Alongside simpler odds, Kalshi offers other unique benefits, including better pricing and the ability to cash out at any time at fair market value.

“Trade the NBA today and profit from your opinion!” But not only does Kalshi offer the only legal way to trade on sports in Florida, it also offers tons of other interesting markets to trade on.

Kalshi is a prediction market, which is a market on the outcome of a future event, and these events can be almost anything.

For example, you can trade on whether or not America will enter a recession in 2025 (currently a 42% chance), whether or not President Trump will declassify the Epstein documents (currently 31%), who will win TIME’s Person of the Year, or which movies will get Oscar nominations.

Our most popular product by far though: elections. Right now, we have markets on which party will win in 2028, as well as who will be the nominee for both Republicans (current leader JD Vance) and Democrats (current leader Gavin Newsom).

Think you know something other people don’t on any of these topics? Trade on Kalshi today to profit from your opinion!
