Article Icon 1Armed Man Targets Trump at His Florida Golf Club

A man wielding an AK-style rifle pointed the weapon at former President Donald Trump while he was golfing at his West Palm Beach club on Sunday afternoon, prompting Secret Service agents to open fire, according to law enforcement officials.

The suspect had pushed the firearm’s muzzle through the perimeter of Trump International Golf Club. Trump was unharmed in the incident, which the FBI is investigating as a possible assassination attempt.

The gunman dropped the weapon and fled in an SUV, and was later apprehended in Martin County. An AK-style firearm was recovered at the golf club.

Trump returned to Florida this weekend after a West Coast trip that included a rally in Las Vegas and a Utah fundraiser, two months after surviving an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ home opener on Sunday was played at the newly named TrEverBank Stadium, renamed after Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence as part of his collaboration with the stadium’s naming rights sponsor, EverBank.

When fans arrived Sunday, they saw temporary signage throughout the stadium reflecting the new name. It was also displayed on EverBank’s website, ATMs, and financial centers, creating a full takeover experience for Jags fans.

Lawrence teased the announcement last week with a post on X, featuring a slideshow of four photos of him from different angles with the words “It’s time for a change.”

Despite the buildup to the naming, the Jaguars lost their home opener to the Cleveland Browns 18-13.
