Good Morning! On this day in 1939, jazz multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee was born in Miami. McPhee began performing professionally in the 1960s and gained international attention for his 1969 album Underground Railroad.
On this National Sandwich Day, we honor the Cuban, Florida’s most famous sandwich. The sandwich arrived in Florida in the late 1800s as Cuban immigrants settled in Tampa and Key West to work in the tobacco industry. It’s made with ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles.

How Do You Get a Return on Your Investment?
We believe in transparency. Like any investment, there’s risk—but The Flyover reached profitability after just two years, with 80% gross margins and 24% net income. That places us among the top 1% of media startups in America.
Here’s how your investment could create a real return:
Sale: A larger media company or strategic partner could acquire The Flyover. If that day comes, we’ll only partner with those who share our values.
Public Listing: We could one day go public, giving you the freedom to buy and sell your shares.
Profit Distributions (Dividends): Because we’re already profitable, future dividends are a real possibility.
These are the same paths that have rewarded early investors in other successful startups—and they’re all possible because of the momentum you’ve helped build.
The group behind a statewide push to legalize recreational marijuana filed suit against the DeSantis administration Friday in the state’s Supreme Court, alleging state elections officials are trying to block the measure from getting on the ballot in 2026.
Smart & Safe Florida has requested that the court direct the Secretary of State and the Director of the Division of Elections to complete the next step in the amendment process and issue a letter stating that the group has sufficient support for the amendment to advance.
The group claims to have collected over three times the number of petitions required by law. If confirmed, the next step would be for the state attorney general to request that the state Supreme Court review the ballot language.
A spokesperson for Secretary of State Cord Byrd, who is named in the suit, said his department does not comment on pending litigation. Representatives for Gov. Ron DeSantis referred questions to the department.
New Broward County Health Insurance Plan
Broward Health and Memorial Healthcare System have introduced their own Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plan for 2026, part of a broader collaboration between the two public health systems.
The new 22 Health will directly compete with Florida Blue’s ACA plans in Broward County, giving the hospital systems another piece of the healthcare business. It provides access to physicians and specialists at the county’s two largest public health systems, which include 11 hospitals.
The change follows recent contract disputes, in which both Memorial Healthcare System and Broward Health became out-of-network providers for Florida Blue, the state’s largest health insurer.
While negotiations are ongoing, the health systems are not allowing patients with Florida Blue to make appointments, even if they agree to pay out-of-network prices. Open enrollment for the 2026 plan year began on Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 15.
Mariah Carey’s Holiday Bar Coming to Miami Beach
Mariah Carey, sometimes called the Queen of Christmas, kicked off the holiday season at the stroke of midnight on Nov. 1. She dropped her annual video on social media featuring a partnership with beauty retailer Sephora and actor Billy Eichner as an angry elf.
Mariah Carey’s 2025 announcement video came days after the singer partnered with experience curator Bucket Listers to launch holiday-themed pop-up bars in four U.S. cities, including Miami Beach.
Mariah Carey’s Holiday Bar, decked with Mariah-themed decor, Santa Sleigh photo opportunities, and themed cocktails, will launch on Nov. 20 at Ray’s Hometown Bar in Miami Beach, where it will remain for a month.
Miami fans can join the waitlist to learn when reservations will open. Along with Miami Beach, holiday bars will pop up in Los Angeles, New York, and Las Vegas.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random
The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras as they laughed at the people they were tricking. One worker bragged about making $250K from victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t pick phone numbers at random. They buy your data from brokers.
Once your data is out there, it’s not just calls. It’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni: They delete your info from the web, monitor and follow up automatically, and continue to erase data as new risks appear.
