Record Holiday Travel Expected

AAA predicts that Orlando will again be the top Memorial Day destination in the U.S., with 1.4 million more Americans expected to travel over the weekend in 2025 than in previous years.

Miami ranked No. 5 on the Memorial Day destination list, joining Seattle, New York, and Las Vegas in the top five. You can see the top 10 list here.

A record-breaking 2.6 million Floridians are expected to travel during this year’s Memorial Day holiday period, part of the more-than 45.1 million Americans forecast to travel by auto (39.4 million), air (3.61 million), or other means (2.08 million).

AAA noted that gas prices are down compared to last year due to lower crude oil prices, which are abating the typical price spikes ahead of the summer driving season.

Florida’s Coolest Job

A career at NASA helping to execute both crewed and uncrewed rocket launches from the agency’s Kennedy Space Center was voted the coolest job in the Sunshine State.

Career.io surveyed 3,002 job seekers, asking them to name the coolest positions in every state, with a NASA career ranking No. 31 on the list of 140 positions. See the full list here.

The only other Florida job listed was a hurricane hunter pilot (No. 39) at NOAA Aircraft Operations in Lakeland. An animator at Pixar Animation Studios in California and a paleontologist at the Field Museum in Chicago took the top two spots.
