Man Arrested for Death Threats Against Trump
A 46-year-old Palm Beach County man was arrested Friday night after making threats on social media to kill President Donald Trump.
Shannon Depararro Atkins faces one count of making written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.
Atkins also faces a drug possession charge. Detectives found cocaine on him at the time of the arrest, police say.
The investigation into Atkins began after a Jan. 19 tip to the FBI National Threat Operations Center about an Okeechobee man posting violent threats toward Trump on Facebook.
Purdue developed and aggressively marketed OxyContin and other opioid medications, contributing to widespread addiction and overdoses, Florida’s attorney general says.
As part of the settlement, the Sacklers will relinquish control of Purdue, and the company is banned from selling opioids in the U.S.
The U.S. Department of the Interior began implementing President Donald Trump’s name change for the Gulf of Mexico, officially renaming it the Gulf of America.
Last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis became one of the first governors to use the new name, referring to Gulf of America in an official Florida document.
While the new name will be used in the U.S., other nations will not be required to recognize the name.
Also last week, Trump changed the name of North America’s highest peak, Denali, back to its historical name, Mount McKinley, named after President William McKinley.
