Good Morning! On this day in 2018, high school students and staff across the nation stopped lessons for 17 minutes in memory of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland the month before.
It’s a great weekend for outdoor events. Starting Sunday, check out the Miami Open, or take a leisurely stroll through downtown Mount Dora at the Spring Festival of Arts and Crafts. Enjoy!
We’re sponsored today by the nonprofit World Concern, offering an opportunity to help children in need in Somalia.

Trump Support Gives Donalds the Lead
The question of who will replace term-limited Gov. Ron Desantis as governor in 2026 is setting up a proxy battle between DeSantis and President Donald Trump, who has endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds.
First Lady Casey DeSantis has said she is considering a run to replace her husband. However, conservative groups and Trump advisors are publicly supporting Donalds, with Donald Trump Jr. also endorsing him.
Voters who know the President supports Donalds prefer him over Casey DeSantis nearly 2 to 1, or 45% to 23%, according to a recent poll. When uninformed of Trump’s support, Donalds’ lead drops to 34% to 30%. The poll showed that 86% percent knew who DeSantis was, compared to 65% who recognized Donalds’ name.
Rep. Jason Shoaf, a Port St. Joe Republican, has introduced a bill to dissolve White Springs—a town founded in 1885 along the Suwannee River during a 19th-century springs tourism boom—and transfer its assets to Hamilton County.
“I want to restore the citizens’ access to their government, deal with the many allegations of corruption, put an end to the suppression of votes, and improve the quality of life for the citizens of White Springs,” Shoaf said.
White Springs, home to the Stephen Foster Memorial Museum and the annual Florida Folk Festival, has failed to file state-required annual financial audits nine times in the past ten years.
‘Home Town Takeover’ Makes Over Sebring
Sebring, known as the “City on the Circle” and home to one of the nation’s oldest raceways, is getting a makeover from husband-and-wife duo Erin and Ben Napier on their HGTV show Home Town Takeover.
In the first episode of the new season, which premiered on Sunday and is now streaming on Max, the Napiers surprised the citizens of Sebring, announcing plans to revitalize every “wedge” of downtown and change the lives of some of the residents.
Economic challenges, including a new highway diverting tourists away from town and repeated hurricane damage, have left Sebring struggling.
One of the first places the Napiers chose to help was Sebring Soda, owned by high school sweethearts Liz and Daniel. Upcoming episodes will tackle several other businesses in town.

Somalia is facing a devastating combination of natural disasters, global conflicts, widespread poverty, and disease outbreaks. East Africa has just endured its worst drought in 40 years, leaving tens of millions without access to clean water, wiping out millions of livestock, and destroying crops. With domestic food production crippled, Somalia has relied heavily on imports—90% of its wheat coming from Russia and Ukraine—until those shipments stopped.
Now, two in five children in Somalia suffer from acute malnutrition, and cholera is spreading in some regions. The food crisis, compounded by global humanitarian aid being redirected to Europe and the Middle East, has created a perfect storm, leading to a sharp rise in child malnutrition.
We’re asking The Flyover community to join us in partnering with World Concern to help get emergency nutrition packs (a peanut paste fortified with nutrients), water, and hygiene products to those with the most need.
