A two-month undercover operation in Palm Beach County has led to 46 arrests and the seizure of 94 firearms, federal officials announced Wednesday night.

Dubbed “Operation Hurricane,” the ATF-led sting also recovered more than seven kilograms of cocaine and 400 grams of fentanyl—enough, officials said, to kill 200,000 people, more than West Palm Beach’s population. Of the 46 charged, 41 face federal counts and five face state charges.

The sting began with undercover ATF buys near 18th Street and Tamarind Avenue, where agents learned suspect Jarvis Williams had shot someone on May 9. Days later, an agent bought a Glock from Williams; ballistics linked it to shell casings from that killing.

Williams was charged with second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. “These agents, I can’t emphasize this enough, they are saving lives with this work,” U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones said.

More than 100 people rallied in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood Thursday night as work permits for roughly 158,000 Florida Haitians with Temporary Protected Status were set to expire.

The Supreme Court cleared the way for the terminations June 25, ruling courts generally can’t review DHS’s decision. DHS has said Haiti no longer meets the conditions for TPS, following a review with the State Department.

The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association says the change affects 93,000 Florida workers, many in hospitality. Florida is home to the nation’s largest Haitian TPS population.

Article Icon 1Heat Intensifies Miami’s World Cup Match

Today’s World Cup quarterfinal between England and Norway at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is forecast to feel like 105 degrees on the field, according to AccuWeather.

A heat advisory covered much of South Florida this week, with feels-like temperatures reaching the triple digits. A plume of Saharan dust drifting across the Atlantic has added hazy skies and reduced air quality through the weekend.

Norway, where average highs run near 73 degrees, arrived in Miami days early to adjust. Midfielder Martin Odegaard said the extra time paid off: “We’ve been here for a while now, we’ve came early to America, and we’re really used to it now.”

England, more accustomed to mild weather, trained in Florida ahead of the tournament to adapt, with head coach Thomas Tuchel calling it necessary to “stay calm, stay patient and adapt to the circumstances.”

Meanwhile, Norway’s World Cup team relocated from their Fort Lauderdale hotel this week after construction noise, illness, and logistical issues disrupted the squad’s preparations.
