Article Icon 1DeSantis Signals Third Special Session

Florida lawmakers are expected to return to Tallahassee in July for a third special session focused largely on property tax reform, as Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to push for a proposal that would go before voters in November.

Lawmakers and the governor have discussed holding the session after the current budget negotiations conclude later this month. Senate President Ben Albritton said lawmakers want to make sure any proposal is carefully crafted, as changes could have major impacts on local governments and schools.

The debate centers on how Florida should reduce or phase out property taxes on homesteaded properties. During the regular session earlier this year, the Florida House approved a constitutional amendment proposal that would gradually eliminate certain non-school property taxes, but the measure stalled in the Senate.

DeSantis has since signaled support for revisiting the issue during a summer special session, saying lawmakers still have time to place a constitutional amendment on the November ballot if they act before the state’s certification deadline in August.

Article Icon 1School Board Plans to Cut 1,000 Positions

The Broward County Public Schools board approved a controversial plan Monday night to eliminate about 1,000 positions across the district as officials work to close a growing budget deficit tied largely to declining student enrollment.

Superintendent Howard Hepburn said the reduction plan includes roughly 700 vacant jobs and 300 filled positions, with projected savings of about $54 million. District leaders said the cuts are part of a broader three-year strategy to reduce spending by up to $250 million.

The proposed cuts sparked emotional debate during an eight-hour school board meeting in Fort Lauderdale, where employees, union members, and parents argued that some of the eliminated positions directly affect students.

Jobs targeted in the restructuring include mental health counselors, social workers, and student support specialists. One board member, Adam Cervera, publicly opposed the plan during the meeting and attempted unsuccessfully to preserve more than 100 union-related positions.

Article Icon 1Panel: Privatize FEMA Flood Insurance

A 2026 FEMA review panel appointed by President Trump recommended privatizing the National Flood Insurance Program, which FEMA manages, as part of an overhaul of federal disaster response.

Florida has the most federal flood insurance policies in the nation. Critics fear the proposed changes could increase already high insurance costs. Supporters argue that states can manage disaster relief more efficiently than the federal government.

The purpose of the review and subsequent plan is to speed up aid to weather victims while raising the financial threshold for federal involvement, thereby requiring states to cover more costs. The plan is now with the president for review.

A congressional vote would be necessary for changes to take effect. This week, President Trump nominated Cameron Hamilton to head FEMA, and it is believed the president is no longer looking to disband the agency.

Discovered: 328 Years Worth of Lithium

The United States just discovered a massive lithium reserve in the Appalachia region, a 328-year supply based on America’s 2025 import totals.

With Morgan Stanley forecasting an 80,000-ton shortage this year alone, the sooner we can tap into it, the better.

For companies like EnergyX, that spells opportunity. Their patented tech can recover lithium 500X faster than traditional methods. And where those only recover roughly 30% of available lithium, EnergyX recovers over 90%. It’s why industry leaders like General Motors have already invested.

With rights to up to 13M tons of untapped lithium across North and South America, EnergyX is already an emerging lithium power. They even just opened America’s largest lithium production facility in Texas.

All of which puts them on the short list of companies capable of turning massive reserves into fast results. Claim your piece of this lithium boom as an early-stage EnergyX investor while you can.

America’s Biggest Lithium Bet Just Went Live

Lithium prices are up 2X+ since last summer, and Morgan Stanley forecasts an 80,000-ton shortage in 2026. In other words, those with a reliable supply are sitting pretty.

So it’s a big deal that EnergyX just commissioned the single biggest lithium production facility of its kind in the United States.

EnergyX’s patented tech can recover up to 3X more lithium than traditional methods at 500X the speed of evaporation ponds. With this facility, they’re preparing to produce it at scale.

They’ve got nearly 150,000 acres of lithium-rich land spread across the Americas, including the rights to up to 9.8M tons in Chile alone.

General Motors has already invested. Now, for a limited time, you can join them as an early-stage EnergyX investor.
