Article Icon 1Python Removal Triples Thanks to Leather Company

While in Martin County on Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis highlighted the success of a partnership with Inversa Leathers that has helped triple the removal of invasive Burmese pythons from the Everglades in one year.

These things will take out a deer,” DeSantis said of pythons. “I mean, it’s unbelievable what they’re able to do.”

Based in Miami, Inversa uses invasive species that harm ecosystems in the designs of their retail clothing items. Products are made from Florida’s Burmese python and lionfish, as well as Silverfin carp from the Mississippi River Basin.

The governor shared that the partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Python Action Team accomplished more removals in July 2025 alone than in the entire year before.

Article Icon 1FAA Imposes New Mar-a-Lago Flight Restrictions

The FAA has imposed year-round flight restrictions over President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, impacting local flight patterns and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI).

The change is an increased security measure following multiple assassination attempts on the president, including a recent FBI investigation into a suspicious structure discovered near the presidential flight path at PBI.

The restrictions alter flight patterns into and out of PBI. The no-fly zone extends to a one nautical mile radius up to 2,000 feet, where all aircraft are banned, including planes, helicopters, and drones.

The new restrictions will be in place for at least a year and will apply even when the president isn’t staying at his club, a major departure from previous practices. Expanded flight restrictions are in place during Trump’s visits, and they will continue.

Article Icon 1Cruising to Hit Record Highs

AAA projects that nearly 22 million Americans will travel on cruise ships in 2026, setting a new record.

The travel group is forecasting a year-over-year increase of 8.4% from 2024 to 2025 and a 4.5% rise from 2025 to 2026. Although 65% of adult U.S. cruise passengers are 55 or older, demographics are shifting towards younger passengers.

At Port Canaveral, demand has led to an increase in cruise ships and the addition of new cruise brands. Celebrity and Princess will homeport ships at Port Canaveral for the first time this winter season.

The port is set to announce that 8.6 million passengers sailed out of the Space Coast in fiscal year 2025, which is a 14% increase over 2024. AAA also reports that nearly 50% of American cruise passengers sail as a couple, while 20% cruise with kids.
