Love Bombing Florida’s West Coast

As the west coast of Florida continues to recover from last year’s back-to-back hurricanes, a movement to “Love Bomb the Locals” is helping small beach town businesses.

Gayle Guyardo, host of Tampa’s Bloom TV, is spotlighting local entrepreneurs weathering the decline in tourism and helping to rally residents and visitors to lift up local businesses with intentional support.

Tamás and Christina Kiss, the duo behind Pineapple Cove Vacation Rentals, came up with the idea. Small businesses don’t pay for the media coverage, which includes interviews, photos, and footage that can be used for marketing and social media.

The effort is fueled by the Love Bomb Squad—a group of monthly supporters who believe in the mission to support local businesses.

The Fastest-Growing City in the U.S.

According to a report by U.S. News and World Report, Florida dominates a list of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., with four of the top 10 locations.

Wildwood, a small city in Sumter County about 50 miles from Orlando, was named the fastest-growing city in the country. Its population grew nearly 20% between 2020 and 2024 to around 35,000 people.

Cities were ranked by net migration, the number of people moving to or from each city based on the annual percentage population change over the previous four years.

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, came in second, and Leander, Texas, just outside of Austin, came in third. Other Florida cities in the top 10 include Naples (No. 5), Zephyrhills (No. 7), and Bonita Springs (No. 10).
