First Hurricane of the Season
Erin became the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season, officially forming late Friday morning.
The hurricane is predicted to become a Category 4 over the weekend, with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.
“Erin is forecast to slowly curve to the north as it continues to strengthen over the weekend. At this time, the storm is forecast to remain hundreds of miles off the East Coast,” AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva said.
For now, Florida’s main risk is rough surf, with Central Florida wave heights expected to reach 4 to 6 feet by mid-next week.

“It scares me cause a person is going to vote, and their vote is not going to be able to count,” said Andrew White, who was renewing his driver’s license in Palm Beach.
