Article Icon 1Florida to Ban Fluoride From Public Water Systems

On Tuesday, Florida lawmakers gave final approval to a water purity bill that will ban fluoride despite the compound not being specifically mentioned. The measure now goes to the governor to become law.

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration and numerous government health officials have advocated against the fluoridation of community water systems, arguing that high levels could risk children’s intellectual development.

Once signed into law, Florida will become the second state in the nation to ban fluoride from state water supplies after Utah. Opponents continue to argue that everyday Floridians rely on fluoride for dental health.

The bill also prohibits the mislabeling of plant-based foods as poultry, meat, milk, or eggs. “Almond milk,” for example, must now be labeled “almond beverage.”

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance will attend a fundraiser for Naples Congressman Byron Donalds at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach today to support the gubernatorial candidate’s run.

Donalds’ campaign is hosting the event. The cost is $3,000 per person for the cocktail reception, or $50,000 for both the reception and dinner.

A new round of endorsements has added to the list of top-ranking Republicans supporting the third-term congressman, including Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and House Republican Leadership Chair Elise Stefanik.

Momentum has also grown for Donalds’ fundraising operation since he announced his candidacy at the end of February. From February to the end of March, he raised more than $12 million.

Article Icon 1Dangerous Dog Law Awaits Signature

A law awaiting Gov. Ron DeSantis’ signature defines what qualifies as a dangerous dog and directs how animal control and other authorities must respond. The bill was unanimously passed by both the House and Senate.

The bill requires that if a dog kills or bites a person—with the bite scoring a five or higher on the Dunbar bite scale—the animal must be impounded during an investigation and may be humanely destroyed in some circumstances.

Owners of dogs deemed “dangerous” will be required to obtain liability insurance of at least $100,000, and the animal must be microchipped. The bill is named after Pam Rock, a mail carrier who was killed by a pack of dogs in Putnam County in August 2022.

Put an End to Those Pesky Spam Calls

There are few things more frustrating than dashing across the room to answer your ringing phone, only to see “Potential Spam” on the caller ID (probably for the third time today). If you want to cleanse your phone of this annoyance (and increase your personal security), you have three options:

1. Throw your phone into the ocean.

2. Individually block each unknown caller.

3. Stop spammers from getting your number in the first place with Incogni.

We highly recommend option No. 3, and not just because electronic garbage is bad for aquatic life. Incogni’s automated personal information removal service hunts down your personal information, then removes it from the web. Plus, Incogni will reduce the number of spam emails in your inbox.
